Object Focus
- This is a simple meditation that can be the beginning
of disciplining the mind and gaining better control of your
life. Pick an object, any object. Before you start, decide
if that will be your object every day or if you'd like to
pick a different object every day. Then just take 5 minutes
and think of nothing but that object. You can do anything
with the object, mentally, that you wish, just stay with
it.
Gratitude
- You can spend even just a little time each day thinking
of things you are grateful for. This sets your mind on the
positive and has amazing benefits. Currently, before breathing
meditation, I light candles for each of 7 elements of life
here and express my gratitude to the universe for them.
The elements are: earth (brown), water (dark blue), sun
(yellow), clouds (white), life (green), people (red) and
'the infinite, the unknown and the unseen' (light blue).
Breathing
- There are many techniques for breathing meditation. A
simple technique is to just pay attention to your breath,
like with the object focus above, and while doing so, count
your breaths up to 100. Again, don't forget, it's a gift
to you. By doing this simple exercise, you can clear your
mind and let your consciousness just float up.
Sending Light
- This is a good exercise to do if you are having trouble
forgiving someone. Just send light and love to people. You
can start out with someone that's easy, someone you love
and have no current conflict with. Then move on to others,
to anyone.
Past Events Imagery
- There are many things you can do with images which can
clear negative thoughts and energy. For example, if you
have an experience or event in the past that causes you
difficulty now, you can imagine that event on a movie screen.
Then back it up and replay it the way you wanted it to play
out. Include as much detail as you can do effortlessly when
doing this: colors, sounds, etc.
Chakra Balancing
- In order to balance your chakras, you can simply completely
flood yourself with each of the chakra colors: red, orange,
yellow, green, sky blue, indigo blue, violet. You can do
this many different ways: imagining going from room to room
where everything in each room is one of the colors, imagine
a ladder or staircase where as you take a step, the color
floods you, or just imagine the colors all around you and
then infusing you so that every part of your body and energetic
body are that color.
Positive Imaging
- You can do this with anything you want in your life or
any past positve experience. Again, include as much detail
as possible and especially open up to your feelings with
this.
The "What's
Keeping Me From" Game - This is a sort of mental
game or meditation. It is good to do after gratitude and
counting breaths, but you can try it any time. First, choose
a state of consciousness that you would like to be in, such
as happiness, love, joy, peace, bliss, enlightenment. Then,
keep asking the question, 'what's keeping me from <state
of mind>?'. If you think the thought might have some
merit, ask yourself if you really believe it. If you do,
well, you are stuck, but at least you know exactly where
you are stuck. Or, you may need to converse with the thought
in your mind a bit to sort of dispute it or dissipate it.
Once you have completed your conversation with the disputing
thought, attach it to an image, usually a person, perhaps
you now or you at an earlier age. It doesn't have to be
a person, just let whatever image comes up be there. Then,
imagine yourself kissing the image on the forhead (whatever's
closest if it's not a person), and thank it for sharing.
You can do this last part even if you got stuck.
